CARMEL POINT RESIDENCE REMODEL

Carmel Point, 2017

Built in 1964 and primarily used as a family vacation home, this mid-century masterpiece had not aged well. The client chose to work with Dan because of his vision and ability to restore the original design yet provide them with a new modernized home.

The property’s majestic beauty and ocean views are restored by reverting inappropriate placed walls back to glass in the main living area. Expanded use of wrap-around decks to blur the line between indoor and outdoor, making a stronger connection to the ocean. Architectural details and elements, material selections, and color palette come together to recreate the connections to the surrounding environment.  Will Shaw’s original design is now restored to its full grandeur while modern interventions are sensitively integrated.
