ATHERTON RESIDENCE
The project presented was to design a family home on a suburban corner lot on the Bay Area Peninsula. The clients were looking for a distinctive traditional style home with gardens of a more formal nature . This property itself didn’t offer many outwardly focused physical resources such as views that could drive a design approach. Instead an inwardly directed design approach was used. We created a solution whereby site planning and the design of gardens created something for the architectural solution to focus on and integrate with.
Staying true to the traditional architecture style, the home was designed with axial relationships between interior spaces that in turn relate directly to the formal gardens beyond. Special features include uniquely designed ceiling volumes and a level of detail that in addition to the formal plan layout
offers a design thread that ties this project together.
